Crime
The latest British Crime Survey statistics indicate that levels of crime are lower in the South West than other areas of England and Wales and the proportion of people worried about burglary, car crime, violent crime and anti social behaviour is lower than the national average.
Exeter has been named one of 40 priority Respect Action Areas in England for being a council with a strong record in tackling anti social behaviour. It is also part of the ‘New Devon’ Local Area Agreement which received £1m Home Office funding in 2005/6 to launch new initiatives aimed at reducing crime, anti social behaviour and substance misuse.
Exeter is served by the Devon and Cornwall constabulary.
