With its 'recycle from home' scheme covering 99% of the city, and with a recycling centre in the Marsh Barton industrial estate on Exton Road, Exeter has a strong commitment to the environment.

Devon has also been awarded Local Transport Authority of the year, with 1 million people using Exeter’s park and ride service each year. The city was also selected as one of only six Cycling Demonstration towns in the country.

There are plans to build on this momentum, with a new environment strategy for 2007-2012 drawn up by Exeter City Council as well as a state of the art recycling centre planned to be constructed in the east of the city.
